Governor & First Lady of NJ Meet One Life to Love Founder

The governor of New Jersey is currently on a #NJIndiaMission in India with a focus on getting companies to invest and create jobs in NJ. He is the first governor of the US state to visit the country on official business.

The Governor along with a three dozen member delegation are on a seven-day, six-city trip to India. The delegation will visit Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Agra.

The focus of the mission is to strengthen economic ties with one of New Jersey’s largest trade and investment partners, cultivate international investment opportunities, and deepen cultural and educational ties between New Jersey and India.

Governor Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy took time out of their busy schedule to meet with One Life to Love Founder, NJ native Courtney Deacon Lalotra and the women and children she serves.

Courtney Deacon Lalotra shared an update on the meeting on her personal Facebook page:

“I’ve always been proud to be a Jersey Girl.

NJ is my home aur Bharat mera ghar hai (and India is my home). Our leaders’ initiatives to build stronger ties between NJ & India is something so momentous for me. To quote Governor Phil Murphy from the NJ-India syndicate meeting last night in New Delhi, “I truly believe we are perfect together.”

Governor Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy took time out of their extremely busy #NJIndiaMission to meet with our children and housemothers. The Governor and First Lady met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the morning, and One Life to Love that same evening!

The love, compassion and concern they displayed was sincere and beautiful. Our children were quick to run up to the Governor and First Lady saying, “Namaste Uncle. Namaste Aunty,” and they embraced the children the same way an Aunty or Uncle would.

The Governor wanted to know more about our children, my story, and how they can help us in this work. The Governor continued to show his support during the syndicate dinner by giving a heartfelt recognition speech honoring One Life to Love, and me personally. He called on business and political leaders to come alongside us in our efforts.

Our children have overcome so much. I believe they are changing the world as more and more people witness their courage, love and hope first hand.

As for me, I am one lucky Jersey Girl to call them mine and to call both NJ and India my home.

A special thanks to Jose Lozano of Choose New Jersey, Inc., Senator Vin Gopal and everyone else who made this meeting possible.
